The Homeland Security Industries Association (HSIA) is a non-profit corporation established in July, 2002. It has over 200 members. Our mission is to provide a mechanism for government and the private sector to coordinate on a wide range of homeland security issues.

The four principal goals of HSIA are:

· Networking among industry representatives and homeland security officials;
· Development of position papers reflecting industry positions and concerns that may be shared with federal and local officials; and
· Monitoring and advocacy regarding of legislation, regulations and related hearings concerning homeland security.

HSIA's Corporate/Policy Forum members include: (a) such industry giants as: Bechtel, Fluor Corp., General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Textron, and Washington Group International; (b) such mid-sized firms as: E.J. Krause & Associates, Intelsat Government Solutions, Galileo International, Shaw Group, HDR, Markland Technologies, and Worldwide Security Associates; (c) such smaller firms or universities as: AR Challenges , Georgetown University, Intelliorg, the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, and QED; and (d) such affiliate members as the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA), and Stateside Associates.

In March 2003 HSIA was named as the private sector representative on the Department of Homeland Security Working Group on Guidelines for State and Local Governments. HSIA also participates in the EM-XML and ANSI HLS standards groups.

HSIA also opened a Southeast Regional Center and Florida Chapter in Orlando, Florida in May, 2003. We are organizing a Southwest Regional Center and California Chapter in Monterrey, California as well as overseas chapters in England, France and Israel.

Membership benefits will vary depending on membership category. Policy Forum members, for example, will receive HSIA draft policy papers and newsletters but will not be eligible to attend meetings or to avail themselves of the association’s RFP alert service, legislative/regulatory tracking services, the HSIA website library or its networking events. Designed to encourage a maximum possible exchange of ideas, Policy Forum membership is available only to individuals and is not a substitute for corporate membership.
